RAJA UK achieves EcoVadis GOLD!

4 min read 29 October 2024

Following our double gold win earlier this year at the environmental packaging awards, we are thrilled to announce that RAJA UK has been awarded the GOLD certification by Ecovadis. This milestone marks a huge step forward in as we continue to improve and develop our Corporate Social Responsibility proposition, focusing not just on our environmental impact but reaching further into what makes us a holistically responsible organisation to work with.

“At RAJA UK our purpose is to build relationships based on trust, collaboration, and community spirit.

We are passionate about making a lasting impression with the smallest footprint.

We believe in doing the right thing today to create a sustainable tomorrow”

Being awarded a Gold certification by Ecovadis is a great line in the sand for us to understand where we are today and what more we need to do to truly drive the sustainability agenda throughout our entire value chain.

What is EcoVadis?

EcoVadis is the global leader for business sustainability ratings, their work consists of assessing a company’s performance key elements associated with Corporate Social Responsibility. Through their comprehensive evaluation system, EcoVadis provides a rating, feedback and detailed assessment of performance against such areas as the Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement.

By generating sustainability scores and detailed feedback, EcoVadis helps organisations like ours to improve their responsible practices and align these with sustainability goals. We will use our assessments to enhance transparency within our supply chain and to identify opportunities for how to further develop our approach to sustainability and ‘doing the right thing’

An EcoVadis certification is valid for one year, at which point the company must be re-assessed to see if it has improved or maintained its standards.

How significant is EcoVadis gold certification?

EcoVadis assigns gold certification to only the top 5% of companies they assess, and RAJA UK has fallen into the 97th percentile, making us part of the top 3% of companies assessed in the UK.  When asked for a quote our HR and CSR Director Emily Goss had this to say:

This is a key landmark in what will be an ongoing journey for us as a business as we raise the profile and importance of our core value of ‘Do The Right Thing’ with all those we work with internally and externally. I am so proud of all of the hard work going on across the business to ensure that we are bringing this value to life and being conscious of the legacy that we are leaving for future generations.

I am looking forward to what the next 12 months hold and the progress we can continue to make in this space. There is so much more we can do to work in partnership with our customers to help them be more sustainability-minded and navigate the complexities of legislative changes such as EPR. A key focus will be to continue to forge stronger relationships with suppliers to be more innovative and forward-thinking and create more accessible solutions to the challenges faced by the packaging industry.

This is our (RAJA UK’s) mark in the sand that we will learn and grow from, shaping the future is only possible with collaboration from all those we come into contact with, and I am excited to continue that challenge

This certification sits alongside our selection of ISO certifications, (including Health & Safety, Environment and Information Security) and our recent product award wins for our sustainable cold chain solutions as signs of our progress to improve our operations. We continue to work to be not just the best packaging and workplace supplier but also the most sustainable, ethical and environmentally conscious one in the market.
